Henrik Drescher: nervenet
October 2 - November 14
5:30 - 7:30 pm | Crown Center Gallery
Henrik Drescher: nervenet turns inward, showcasing the work of the Danish-born painter and illustrator. Drescher's drawings and installations are disembodied entryways into the human mind, lending shape and color to our most private notions of inferiority and provoking intense introspection: how much of home lies within? How much personal meaning do we derive from our context? Join us for the free opening reception.

As You Like It, by William Shakespeare | directed by Mark E. Lococo
November 5-15 | Mullady Theatre

What happens when you're banished from your kingdom, you're in love with a wrestler, and you have to dress as a boy just to get by? It's a classic case of mistaken identity and forbidden love in Shakespeare's pastoral comedy, centering on relationships between young refugees finding shelter and discovering romantic possibilities in the countryside.  Some performances are almost sold out! Get your tickets in advance by calling the Box Office at 773-508-3847

Steel Magnolias | by Robert Harling | Directed by Alyson Grauer
November 18-22 | Studio Theatre

Presented as a part of the DFPA Second Stage Series, a laboratory for student exploration and experimentation with theatrical content, form and style, Robert Harling's play Steel Magnolias chronicles the lives of six fictional women of Chinquapin, Louisiana. As Shelby gets married and starts a family, her mother M'Lynn and friends Truvy, Annelle, Clairee and Ouiser face frustration, joy, hardship and unending love. The play explores the untouchable bonds and indomitable spirit that comes with being a Southern woman.

Sister Corita: The Joyous Revolutionary
November 20 - January 4 | Crown Center Gallery

Sister Mary Corita Kent's work explores the influence of our cultural surroundings on our consciousness as Americans in an era of progress and change. According to ExhibitsUSA, "A Catholic convent and college in Los Angeles might seem an unlikely breeding ground for Pop Art and social commentary. However, for nearly three decades, Sister Mary Corita--a Catholic nun, teacher, and inspiration to such luminaries as Buckminster Fuller and Charles Eames--devoted her life to creating cutting-edge serigraphs (silk screens)."
