Creating Safe Schools for LGBTQ Students
February 4, 2012 9am to 12:30pm
Working with LGBTQ youth requires not only a basic understanding of the various components of sexual orientation and gender identity, but an acute awareness of the impact of one’s beliefs, values, and language. This presentation will help participants reflect on these and begin to create a school culture that fosters safety and respect for LGBTQ youth by enhancing communication among and between staff. Additionally, we will discuss age appropriate clinical interventions and strategies for effecting systemic change.
